"Spancrete seems to put in the extra effort to ensure the customer is served beyond their expectations."
Harken USA, a Wisconsin manufacturer of sailboat hardware and accessories, had been suffering from a problem that many corporations face – they needed more space. Not only did they need more space, they needed to make more efficient use of their existing space. The company had been running its local operations from four different buildings, and the inefficiencies were piling up.
The process began with a call to Spancrete sales associate, Doug Meidl. “We were involved right away from the beginning,” said Meidl. “We assisted with preconstruction services and developing design solutions, as well as with helping Harken choose their exterior finish options. We understand the costs associated with a development of this magnitude and were able to help our customers make responsible financial decisions in the development of their new facility.”
The new facility, located on 28 acres in Pewaukee, WI, features a 145,000 sq. ft. lower-floor manufacturing and assembly facility and a 30,000 sq. ft., second floor office center. Building with Spancrete precast products allowed Harken to build their manufacturing and assembly areas with fewer support columns, giving the company more wide-open space to take advantage of Lean Manufacturing efficiencies.
“Working with Spancrete on our new headquarters project has been a very positive experience,” says Bill Goggins, CEO of Harken USA. “The Spancrete team has been proactive in developing the most effective proposal for the needs of our new facility and most importantly have stood behind their product and service pledge now that construction is complete. Like Harken, Spancrete seems to put in the extra effort to ensure the customer is served beyond their expectations.”
Spancrete President and Chief Operating Officer Alan Antoniewicz said of the project, “There’s nothing that we love more than seeing the success of another Wisconsin-based manufacturer. We’re extremely proud that we were able to be a part of it.”
