St. Norbert College Stadium
Spancrete was initially slated to provide only the structural precast components for the St. Norbert College Donald J. Schneider Stadium. However, the condensed timeframe of the build made it necessary to find a different way to achieve a brick and mortar look without the traditional brick and mortar timetable. As site pre-work started in the fall, Spancrete worked on concept drawings with Miron Construction to develop a signature look that would transform the traditional brick and mortar elements found throughout the campus to precast. A thin brick architectural finish was set into the insulated Spancrete Wall Panels that made up the exterior of the structure. This modification enabled manufacturing to begin over winter and construction to start in the spring of 2010.
The accelerated pace of this project was fueled by excitement and anticipation. Once the college had the funding secured in the fall of 2009, they decided they wanted a stadium that would be ready for the 2010 football season.
At the start of St. Norbert’s 2010 season, fans were welcomed to a new 2,500 capacity stadium.
- For the design, a traditional brick and mortar look was created by adding a thin brick architectural finish to the precast concrete; allowing this new structure to blend into the entire legacy and architectural requirements of the existing campus.
- The tight construction schedule ensured that St. Norbert’s could start its 2010 football season with a brand new stadium.
