Safety Rockstars – June 2018

Safety is a core value at Spancrete. Our Safety Rockstar program recognizes individuals who go above and beyond to ensure a safe workplace here at Spancrete.

This month we recognized three individuals for their efforts!

Jake is a foreman on the bridge crew in Valders, Wis. He is recognized for designing a way to provide fall protection when working on bridge products. To create large bridge beams, concrete is poured into a form and then needs to be vibrated to ensure the concrete mix meets spec requirements. The forms can be over four-feet high, so fall protection is crucial. Thanks Jake for helping to make this important job safer!

Jim works at our warehouse in Valders, Wis., and is responsible for moving stock around the yard as we prep and stage for the next pour. To help make the transfer process safer, he worked with our Machinery division to invent a bar to help shore wall braces on trailers during storage. The bars will also be helpful during transportation to and from job sites. Kudos to Jim!

Mark helps create Hollowcore at our Valders, Wis., facility. He spotted an equipment issue before beginning a run, and called it to the attention of the supervisor on duty. His attention to detail and keeping a watchful eye on the process prevented what could have been a potentially dangerous situation. Thank you Mark!
