Residents in the Northwestern Chicago Suburb of Mt. Prospect, IL, now have a state-of-the-art housing option thanks to the new Myers Place apartment complex. Spancrete was a part of the design team for the four-story 31,500 sq. ft. facility, which began construction in August of 2012 and was erected in less than four weeks.

Myers Place is built on a Spancrete Total Precast system. A Total Precast system means that it was designed and constructed entirely of precast concrete components, including a combination of columns, beams, wall panels and floor planks. Using the Total Precast system saves time and money by reducing the number of subcontractors and associated scheduling issues; provides assistance via the Spancrete engineering team in order to prevent costly and time-consuming redesign; and allows for rapid erection of the structure, lessening the overall construction time. Another benefit is the peace and quiet the residents will enjoy given the total precast construction.

The new building features an architectural finish, composed of three different colors of thin brick cast into the precast panels. The project also called for insulation at the plank bearing in order to provide continuous insulation throughout the building that meets energy requirements.
