Lake Jesup Water Augmentation Facility

Spancrete participated in a unique project for Killebrew Construction and the City of Winter Springs, FL. Demand for reclaimed irrigation water was greater than the supply available. The solution was to draw water from Lake Jesup and send it to local wastewater treatment facilities for processing.

Lake Jesup is one of the largest lakes in Central Florida, one of many that make up the St. Johns River. Located northeast of Orlando in the heart of Seminole County, the lake encompasses an area of approximately 16,000 acres, including open water and floodplain.

The city needed a structure which would protect the intake pipe. Spancrete provided precast building solutions that worked together to offer unmatched protection. An added bonus was the speed of construction, low maintenance, long service life and minimum long term impact on the environment that precast concrete brought to the project.

The city plans to make the new area into a public park. A concrete topping and safety railings will be placed on the structure for an observation deck and fishing pier.
