Spancrete Vice President Elected as Fellow in American Concrete Institute

Roger Becker, Vice President - Precast Division, The Spancrete Group, Waukesha, Wisconsin was recently elected a fellow of the American Concrete Institute in recognition of his contributions to the work of ACI. The American Concrete Institute selects individuals as fellows based on their outstanding contributions made to the production or use of concrete materials, products and structures in the areas of education, research, development, design, construction and management. The American Concrete Institute honored Roger at the ACI Awards Program in Vancouver, Canada this past spring.

Roger Becker joined Spancrete in 1999 with over 26 years of experience in the precast concrete industry. Mr. Becker is a recognized leader within the precast industry as well as the structural engineering community. His association with Spancrete began with a fellowship through the Spancrete Manufacturer’s Association, where he performed research on the shear strength of Spancrete“ hollowcore slabs, and continued his business relationship with a professional affiliation though Computerized Structural Design, S.C., a Wisconsin – based structural engineering firm.

Roger Becker received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi (an honorary engineering fraternity) and is a registered Professional Engineer in the states of Wisconsin, Michigan and Ohio, as well as a Structural Engineer in Illinois.

As a member of the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI), Becker is currently a member of the Technical Activities, Research and Development, and Hollowcore Committees, Chairs the Building Code Committee, and is the co- author of the PCI Second Edition Manual for the Design of Hollowcore Slabs. He is also a member of the American Concrete Institute and currently serves on the Structural Concrete Building Code, Precast and Prestressed Concrete and Shear and Torsion Committees.
