Spancrete Addition to Target Distribution Center Complete

Spancrete Industries, Inc. recently completed its part in the expansion of the Target Distribution Center in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. Spancrete provided approximately 21,000 square feet of insulated hollowcore wall panels, 400 square feet of hollowcore plank and over 46,000 square feet of insulated form cast triple tees to this addition. Area Erectors, from Chicago, Illinois, installed the Spancrete precast in only 14 days!

Spancrete was used in the original Target Distribution Center project and was therefore able to match the existing structure to a "tee". The ability to blend well with the original structure along with both speed of erection and thermal efficiency made Spancrete precast the ideal building material for this distribution center. Terry Breen, Owners Site Representative, stated, "I was very pleased with the performance of Area Erectors and the quality of the Spancrete panels. There is a 5-6 year difference between the original building and the addition, and you cannot tell the difference from the older panels to the newly installed panels."

Minnesota-based companies, BKBM Engineers and Oertel Architects worked on the design of the Target Distribution Center while Witcher Construction Co. was the General Contractor for this project. Pat Simpkins, Project Manager from Witcher Construction Co., was impressed with Spancrete’s ability to match the panels, which are an exposed aggregate pea gravel with gray cement.

Spancrete Industries, Inc. headquartered in Waukesha, Wisconsin, produces a full range of precast concrete products including: prestressed, precast hollowcore wall panels and planks; concrete beams, columns, tees, bridge girders, concrete block and pipe. In addition, Spancrete manufactures machinery used to produce the prestressed, precast hollowcore, and markets this machinery worldwide. Spancrete operates multi-functional production facilities in Waukesha, Valders and Green Bay, Wisconsin and Crystal Lake, Illinois.
