Ground was recently broken for the new District Three Police Station & Communications Data Center located on the north west side of Milwaukee. Spancrete Industries, Inc. is providing 2,000 lineal feet of precast concrete beams and columns, and 136,000 square feet of precast concrete double tees, spandrels, insulated and non-insulated wall panels, architectural precast and hollowcore floor plank for this new office building and attached parking structure. This 196,526 square foot facility will house a technical police communications center with state of the art architecture.
The Zimmerman Design Group is the architect of record, C.D. Smith Construction, Inc. is the general contractor while Grunau Project Development is managing the project. Spancrete precast products will encompass 40% of the complete structure and King David Lee, Project Manager for G.P.D., states that "Time was of the essence and the Spancrete product line is both efficient and a time saver. The components are simplified. You can pre-manufacture, ship to the site and put it together like a giant puzzle."
The parking structure portion of the project is soon to be completed and the police communications center is scheduled to be finished by September of 2001. Spancrete offers a solid, fire-proof, safe and durable total precast structure ideal for office/parking structure complexes like this new Milwaukee police station. Speed and ease of installation simplify the entire construction process as well.
